While a message can be shared on email with the healthcare professional (HCP), this needs to be heard/seen above everything else than comes across an HCPs desk.

Therefore, we’ve highlighted our top 5 tips that a healthcare company needs to consider when writing email communications to HCPs.


If you are a pharmaceutical company, your identity must be obvious, even if the email is sent via a third party.


Messaging and tone should be tailored towards the HCPs you are targeting.

Restrict the number of promotional emails you send to HCPs, no more than 4 per year. Remember, it’s quality not quantity.


You need the right permissions from all your HCPs before you send them promotional emails.

Regulatory, educational and non-promotional emails can be sent to HCPs without prior permission, but should only include information that is relevant to the recipient.

Data Protection

Make sure you know the source of your mailing lists and comply with data protection legislation at all times.


Regulatory, educational, non-promotional and promotional should allow the recipient to opt out.  Make sure you remove unsubscribes from your mailing lists.
