Meet Our New Digital Specialist Jenna Seed

By Onyx Health | 26th January 2021

This week our Content Writer Andrew Hair sat down with Onyx Health’s newly appointed Digital Account Director Jenna Seed, to chat about her new role and the expertise she brings to the team.

Tell us about yourself and how you got involved in communications

I was born in Newcastle but grew up in County Durham. After finishing my A levels, I went on to study English Literature at Northumbria University, which was a subject I was passionate about at the time. Once I graduated, I decided to put my creative flair to good use by pursuing a career in the media and communications industry.

How did you get involved in digital communications?

My first foray into the world of communications was working for Vodafone and 3 Mobile based in Sydney, Australia, as an Online Producer. It included everything from optimising the Ecommerce site, to developing and implementing digital marketing across several digital channels.

I moved back to the UK in 2013 and made the transition to agency life by working for branding, design and digital agency RAPP based in Edinburgh. As a Digital Producer, I became heavily involved with creating digital and CRM strategies and working with clients on their social media and email marketing campaigns.

After a brief stint as Senior Digital Account Manager at Teviot, I moved to become Digital Account Director at Wyoming Interactive. I developed digital strategies for clients, whilst overseeing the implementation across digital channels such as web, mobile, social, SEO/PPC, User experience (UX) and CRM.

I returned to my native North East in 2019 to work for Newcastle agency Silverbean as an Account Director. I was responsible for developing strategic digital marketing solutions with particular emphasis on digital audits, user experience and Commerce. The role was an interesting one, but most of all, it was great to be back home.

What skills and experience do you feel you bring to the team at Onyx Health?

Having worked for over ten years within Digital, I wanted to bring my skills and experience to Onyx Health for a new challenge in healthcare marketing.

I have extensive senior management experience in eCommerce, CRM, User Experience (UX), web management, digital strategy and marketing.

I also have expertise in Digital Waterfall and Agile project management methodology across several high-level digital projects and experience of how digital analytics can improve user experience and conversion rate optimisation.

Healthcare marketing is a fascinating field to work in, and I am looking forward to applying my skills and experience to a new discipline.

What value will you bring to our clients?

The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed the way we communicate, as well as our everyday lives. As the new normal starts to emerge, companies increasingly need to adopt a digital first strategy to access their customers and target markets. The long-term trends suggest that businesses will need to adopt a digital hybrid model.

Part of this involves changing client’s mindsets about what can be achieved with digital communications, and developing a strategic data driven approach that doesn’t just skim the surface. The health and life science sector has often lagged behind other industries in embracing digital communications. I’m looking forward to putting my experience to good use by helping my clients get ahead of the curve, not just up to speed.

What do you get up to outside of work?

Outside of the cut and thrust of digital communications, I enjoy spending time with my family, walking my dog Sebastian and having treat days to pamper myself.

Things have been curtailed recently due to the COVID-19 restrictions and lockdown, but I like to do lots of things in my spare time.  This includes travelling, visiting places, and trying new restaurants and pubs. I also like keeping fit and often go walking and cycling. Hopefully once the world returns to normal, I can get back into the swing of things.
